Sooner Than Later

Each day the seasoned Christian should be reading and studying God’s biblical principles, and we should be applying those principles to our daily lives. Given the continued blasphemy, demoralization, and overall wickedness of our present world, the most important thing we can do is witness to people about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Spreading the Gospel is not optional. Jesus commanded His disciples to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned …” (Luke 16:15-16) This commandment is known as the ‘great commission’ and applies to all disciples of every generation.

Think about this. Thousands of people are going to Hades on a daily basis because they have rejected Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Hades is the lower side of the fixed great chasm mentioned in Luke 16:19-31. This is the place where the lost are being held until they are called for the Great White Throne Judgement. This second calling is known as the second resurrection mentioned in Revelation 20:11-15.

God knows His own children and He sets His appointed times. He, also, gives us free will. From all my biblical research and studies, I believe God intertwines or meshes His purposes and plans for each one of our lives in accordance with our free will choices. However, He intervenes whenever He feels it necessary to do so. I’ve often wondered if we all did as Jesus commanded, and His elect children were called sooner than later, would the blessing of God’s saving grace be enjoyed for a much longer period of time during His children’s earthly life? Would they have more time to allow Jesus to work through them and store up more treasures in heaven? If God’s children accepted His calling sooner than later, would this temporary life be shortened and all of His children, finally, be at home with the Lord?

Nevertheless, we need to get up and get busy! We need to allow the Lord to work through us as much as possible. There is no greater joy than to plant or water the Seed of Life into the hearts of other people. During Jesus’ 3 1/2 year earthly ministry, He introduced us to the highest form of love in creation. This type of love is His love. Since God is love and Jesus is God, this new supernatural love is unconditional, sacrificial, and selfless. It is called ‘agape’ love. When the Holy Spirit comes to dwell inside the believer, this type of love is sown into our hearts.

So, true believing Christians have God’s agape love in our hearts and the Spiritual gifts necessary to impact this world. Every Christian must pitch-in and use their, specifically, assigned Spiritual gifts for all the tasks that need to be done. Don’t wait any longer. There is much work to do!  Remember, the Lord works through each one of us. Give Him all the glory! In the words of Dr. Charles Stanley’s grandfather, “Obey God and leave all the consequences to Him.”

Blessings in His unlimited grace,

Deborah A. Mac Manes, a disciple of Jesus Christ <><
