The avid Christian knows that Satan is a bully! The Bible teaches us that our battle with Satan is not physical; but spiritual. He and his demonic cohorts are constantly attacking the minds of Christians all over the globe. He will attack us in our weakest moments. Every second spiritual warfare takes place between the Christian and Satan or one of his fallen demonic angels. When Satan was thrown out of heaven, one-third of his demonic angels fell with him. We don’t know how many angels went with him. It could be trillions! We do know that Satan is on a short leash and he is running rampant! He knows his time is coming to an end and he wants to win as many souls as possible to join him in eternal hell.
Below is a prayer based on the biblical principles found in the book of Ephesians. This prayer should help every true Christian win the never-ending spiritual battle of the mind. Try praying these biblical thoughts twice a day for two weeks and you should notice that Satan’s notorious temptations are getting easier to overcome. This simple prayer is based upon the Apostle Paul’s metaphor regarding the Roman soldier’s physical suit of armor. A follower of Jesus Christ dresses in the Spiritual Full Armor of God to keep Satan and his demons at a distance.
A Daily Prayer for Winning the Spiritual Battle:
“I wear the Helmet of Salvation to filter my thoughts. I put on the Breastplate of Righteousness to protect my heart. I am protected by the Shield of Faith from the flaming missiles of Satan. I carry the Sword of the Holy Spirit, the Word of the living God. I am belted with Truth and Readiness to glorify the Lord while walking in the Gospel of peace.”
Verse One: “I wear the Helmet of Salvation to filter my thoughts” … (Thoughts are not a sin. They become sin when we act upon them. If we have the Spiritual weapon of God’s grace and salvation embedded in our hearts and minds, we can prevent Satan from filling our minds with destructive thoughts and win the battle.)
Verse Two: “I put on the Breastplate of Righteousness to protect my heart” … (We need to protect our hearts from all Satanic attacks. If we get into a verbal controversy with an unbeliever and apply God’s basic Biblical principles, this Spiritual weapon of Truth will keep our mind, heart, and tongue righteous in the site of God and man. We will win the battle every time.)
Verse Three: “I am protected by the Shield of Faith from the flaming missiles of Satan” … (Satan knows his time is short and he is angry. The Bible tells us that he is a scheming and roaring lion who roams the earth to devour every Christian soul! His spiritual evil schemes and taunts are analogous to a global ‘grand finale’ of fireworks. He is spiritually throwing anything and everything into the minds of Christian believers! Steadfast faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is the only protection against Satan to win these battles.)
Verse Four: “I carry the Sword of the Holy Spirit, the Word of the living God” … (The Bible tells us that God’s Word is like a double-edged Spiritual Sword. His Word can bless us or judge us. “For the word of God is alive and exerts power and is sharper than any two-edged sword and pierces even to the dividing of soul and spirit, and of joints from the marrow, and is able to discern thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 The Lord hears and remembers every thought we have ever had or will have. He knows our true intentions even when we deny them to ourselves. The Bible tells us that everything hidden in our lives on earth will be revealed by Him. By keeping God’s Word close to our hearts, we can discern, penetrate, and pierce Satanic attacks on our hearts and minds. We can win these battles.)
Verse Five: “I am belted with Truth and Readiness to glorify the Lord while walking in the Gospel of peace” … (The book of James tells us that faith without works is dead. Being committed to the Lord and understanding His Word means that we need to witness to others about the Lord, His plan of salvation, our faith, and eternal rewards. There is no such thing as a ‘private’ Christian faith. Jesus commissioned all of His disciples to spread the gospel to the ends of the earth. With His discernment and nudge from His Holy Spirit, we need to step out and spread His Truth with eagerness and readiness. We can combat Satan’s spiritual attacks because we are fully equipped to win the battle. Remember to give all glory to the Lord.)
I hope this everyday prayer helps you! It helps me.
