Every ‘true‘ believer in our Lord, Jesus Christ, has His Holy Spirit dwelling inside of their minds and hearts. We are given the invaluable gift of the Lord’s divine wisdom to make the right decisions in our lives, keep us on the path to righteousness, keep us in fellowship with our Lord, and help us store up true and eternal ‘treasure in heaven‘ by allowing our Lord to work through us in this temporary life.
Life consists of right and wrong decisions. Every decision we make has consequences attached. If we ask Him, the Lord will forgive us and accept our repentance when we do the wrong thing. However, we are still responsible for the results of those bad decisions. Bad decision making occurs when we listen to our own or another’s human reasoning. Human reasoning quenches the Holy Spirit. Human reasoning is formed from our natural spiritual image of Adam that still resides inside of each one of us. But, thanks be to God, His Holy Spirit resides within each believer and is greater and more powerful than anything seen or unseen.
We cannot be in such a hurry that we default to our own answers and not wait for the advice of the Holy Spirit. We need to slow down and wait for the Lord to answer us. Time is on the seasoned believer’s side, now. We don’t share the world’s value system or beliefs. We are just passing through a world that is passing away. We know the purpose of this life and we will be going to our eternal home at our appointed time. So, we need to make good decisions and be sure we are listening to the right voice. When listening for His voice, remember this verse of Scripture: Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, with whom there is no change or shifting shadow. James 1:17 We will know the Lord’s voice because we know Him. We know Him because He revealed Himself, His ways, His purposes, and His plans throughout the Scriptures.
The whole, ungodly, world is in a hurry and look what they have gained; absolutely nothing for their eternal security! Let them go. But, let us take time to pray and listen for the Holy Spirit’s answers before making our, daily, decisions. We will find out how our decisions, right or wrong, impacted our own lives and/or the lives of others when we meet our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Blessings in the Lord’s unlimited grace,
