In biblical times, the Bridegroom was the focal point or center of attention; not the bride. This is why Jesus expounded on the Bridegroom with parables and analogies. The biblical weddings have symbolic unity with our marriage to Jesus Christ in the following ways:
1. Engagement was a legal marriage contract, often, arranged by parents. There was a period of time associated with the engagement to prove faithfulness.
At time of conversion, we are united with or engaged to Christ by faith. We are disciplined through testing, trials, and convictions to prove our faithfulness to Christ.
2. At the time of the wedding, the bridegroom and his friends went to the bride’s home and took her back to his home with a formal procession.
At the Rapture, Christ is coming with His saints (friends) to claim His bride (the church) and take us back to His mansion that He has prepared for us since the foundation of the world.
3. The marriage feast was celebrated for a week.
The ‘Marriage Supper of the Lamb’ will be celebrated forever.
“Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb.” Rev 19:9
With thankfulness to our Father through His Son, Jesus Christ.
