Most of us study and look forward to eternal life with the Lord. However, the time during millennial earth is, usually, glanced over. My studies of Isaiah have brought me comfort, peace, and anticipation of the millennial kingdom on earth, which I would like to share with you. I have tried to outline this study paper separating personal conjecture from Scriptural truth. It is in places of God’s silence where theology conjecture is conceived by those who study the Word of God. The references to this millennial prophecy in Scripture are noted at the end of this study. Below is my brief summary of Jesus Christ’s one thousand (1,000) year rule on earth known as the millennium:
The millennial kingdom begins right after the second coming of Christ. Just before His arrival, the earth will be, totally, devastated by God’s judgment upon earth during the ‘great tribulation’ period. This devastation will be unlike anything that has ever come upon planet earth, and never will again. Jesus told us that if He had not shortened those days, no life would have been saved. I can’t help but think that mankind will, possibly, go through nuclear warfare using weapons of mass destruction and biological chemical agents. If this is the case, everything on earth and in the cosmos will be affected by nuclear infusion. Scripture tells us that the sun, moon, and stars will be affected. The world devastation could, also, include asteroids hitting earth due to the tilting of the earth’s axis. The apostle John saw something like a great mountain burning with fire that was thrown into the sea.
After Jesus descends upon the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem, with all of His saints, He will send His angels to gather His ‘remaining elect’ from the four corners of the world. This will include the final re-gathering of Israel’s elect remnant throughout the world. The gentile nations will help to bring back the elect remnant of Jews to Jerusalem (Zion) during this time. They will know who they are to bring back. This tells us that not all people die during God’s judgment and are spread throughout the world upon Jesus’ return.
For the people who denounced Jesus and took the mark of the beast or antichrist, a spirit of delusion is sent, by God, for them to continue believing the lie; even when seeing the return of Christ. These are the people who hide in caves and rocks, and who ask for death upon seeing our Savior return. Their eternal destiny has, already, been determined by their choice of taking the fatal mark and following the beast. However, it seems, though, that there will be others who have not accepted the mark of the beast, nor have they accepted Jesus as their Savior. This is where God reveals more knowledge about His plan of redemption.
We know that until we die, we have been given, by the grace of God, a chance to alter our eternal destiny by accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior. I don’t recall reading anywhere in Scripture that a man or woman needs to accept Jesus, as Lord and Savior, before the second coming; provided that a man or woman has not taken the mark of the beast, has not yet died, and is one of God’s elect. God knows His children. He or she may have no rewards prior to His second coming, but, it seems that they will be able to be saved. If this is the case, then we, who have died and resurrected, will be ministering, as priests, to the nations of the earth in our new immortal bodies until ‘all’ of God’s elect have come to know and accept Jesus as Lord and Savior of their lives. This is, also, the period of time when Israel will return to God and accept Jesus as their Savior. The ‘times of the gentiles’ will have ended at the second coming of Christ, and it will be, now, time for Israel to return to God through Jesus Christ. This additional time for redemption is further evidenced by the fact that there will continue to be birth and death during this one thousand year period. The old sin nature will, still, be part of people living in their mortal bodies during the millennium, because they are not, yet, in an eternal state until they have experienced death. Also, at the end of the millennial period, Satan is freed and finds many willing people to join him in his last futile battle against Holy God. When unbelievers die during this time, they will continue to go to Hades and await the second resurrection for the Great White Throne Judgment. But, when believers die, in Christ, during the millennium period, they must be, immediately, transformed into their new immortal bodies with the knowledge and wisdom of Jesus Christ. This aligns with Scripture that tells believers to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. (2 Cor 5:8) These believers would, then, join the rest of the saints in ministering to the nations. So, it seems that only through death can we be brought into an eternal state; unless God chooses to take us, directly, up to heaven, like Enoch and Elijah.
Jesus will, perhaps, reform and transform the biological and ecological systems on earth which allow people, once again, to live, extremely, long lives. People who die at the age of one hundred will be thought of as a mere child. These people will build homes, plant their crops, and enjoy their harvests. The saints will enjoy all the riches of the glory of God in their immortality. We will, all, be safe on God’s Holy Mount Zion, and full of incomprehensible joy and happiness under the protection, guidance, and righteous rule of King Jesus. Lions, wolves, lambs, and cobras will not harm us or one another. King David will become the Prince of Israel in his resurrected body during the millennium. The gates will stay open for the riches to, continually, be brought in by kings and their nations to honor our sovereign King Jesus. The Spiritual GATES will be named PRAISE (the meaning of Judah), and the Spiritual WALLS will be named SALVATION.
What a glorious time this will be on millennial earth, and this isn’t, even, the promised inheritance for all of God’s children. After the Great White Throne Judgment, ‘all ’ His elect will step, together, into eternity to enjoy an everlasting life with Jesus Christ; all that God has prepared for us since the foundation of the world!!!
Praise Holy God, forever, for His unfathomable knowledge, wisdom, righteous mind and heart.
