Christianity is NOT a Religion …

WHY? Religions are based on the premise that ‘people seek God’, or seek a pagan ritual of some sort. People join religious practices in the hope of bringing peace and harmony to their inner beings, to worship ‘something’ bigger than themselves, to try and find a purpose for their lives, and/or to, somehow, fill the deep void within their souls through self-awareness and self-help techniques.

Christianity is the only faith where ‘God seeks His children’ to have a personal and intimate relationship with them. God created us for fellowship with Himself. He needs to call us to Himself before we can learn, study, accept, and obey His gospel of repentance, redemption, and reconciliation. The Bible teaches us that God places a calling in our hearts. Through our Lord’s unlimited grace, His call includes the free gift of eternal life through the grace of His Son,  Jesus Christ, who volunteered to sacrifice His own sinless life as payment in full for our entire sin debt; past, present, and future.

Our Lord was clothed in a fleshly body, like ours, and had the complete Spiritual image of the Father dwelling inside of Him. He was perfect and sinless; being fully God and fully man. Jesus, voluntarily, stepped out of eternity and into time to save His sinful creation from perishing, by becoming the, only, acceptable sacrifice for all of mankind.

While on earth, Jesus lived in total obedience to His Father; teaching us to do the same. Jesus communicated with the Father through the Holy Spirit dwelling inside of Him. He didn’t do anything of His own accord. He received His promptings from the Holy Spirit and carried out the Father’s plans and purposes during His first advent.

We don’t know who God has called; therefore, we need to plant and water the seed of Jesus Christ, whenever and wherever the opportunity presents itself. We, only, plant and water the seed of Christianity; God grows the hearts of His children into the Spiritual image of His Son, and sets us apart as His children. This process is called ‘sanctification‘. We are a ‘work in progress’ and won’t become perfected in Christ until we step over to the other side of eternity. We, most likely, will not see the ‘fruit of our labor’ while on earth, but we will stand, in glory, with those whose lives we have touched when Jesus returns to take us home.

Other than Christianity, there isn’t any faith in God or a god that gives the following blessings:

  • We learn and discern God’s truths and revelations about Himself and His creation
  • God, freely, blesses us with His unconditional love, unlimited grace, and mercy
  • All of our sin debt is paid in full and forgiven through the atonement of Jesus Christ at the cross
  • Our belief in Jesus Christ allows God’s Holy Spirit and powerful Spiritual gifts to reside inside our hearts and minds
  • The Holy Spirit, who dwells inside of us, guides us and is our moral compass throughout our lives
  • Through Jesus Christ, we are given the free gift of eternal life with the eternal promise that we will, always, be with Him

There are many Scriptural references about God’s call to His children. A few verses of Scripture for this blog are listed below:

Apostle Paul states: For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23

Jesus states: “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day. John 6:44

Apostle Paul states: He has saved us and called us to a holy life–not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, … 2 Timothy 1:9

In the next two verses, Apostle Paul is speaking to new Corinthian believers who have accepted his teachings about Jesus:

knowing that He who raised up the Lord Jesus will also raise us up with Jesus, and will present us with you. 2 Cor 4:14

I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor. 1 Cor 3:6-8

Jesus states: Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. John 14:10

With thankfulness to our Father through His Son, Jesus Christ.

In Jesus’ name,

Debby Mac Manes, disciple of Jesus Christ <><
